Each month, I will be posting PR/Business idea updates. Basically I will be talking about how to help your business attract more attention. This is what PR is all about, which is what I do.
I have been away with my family for almost a month in Italy....my absolute favorite place to go. It was a dream vacation, but now I am back to the grind, like everyone else.
It's a New Year with new goals....so what will you do to help your business in 2012? Yes, Facebook, Twitter and Link-in all help, but everyone does it...and do they show off your business in the best light? How do you, or your business want the general public to see you as? This is entirely up to you. Unless you take charge and decide right now, how you would like show yourself, your work, your business, your brand, you will fall through the cracks with all the other generic entities.
Whether you are a one person business or one hundred person business, it is up to you to stand apart from the crowd. It doesn't matter if you are in the food industry, the art industry, textile or retail sales. Perhaps you are an artist, crafts person or performer...all of these occupations can benefit greatly with a PR Business Plan.
I will be posting some monthly marketing suggestions for you and your business.
Let's start with a simple....obvious one. Valentine's Day is right around the corner. Is there something that you, or your business can do for that holiday? If you are an artist or performer...perhaps you have some artwork or a CD that would make a great gift? GET ON IT! If you are a restaurant or bar? GET SOME SPCECIALS GOING! if you are a graphic person, designer, etc...OFFER A PERSONAL CARD, OR OBJECT....perfect for Valentines Day.

Weekend Update....Pick of the Week is this Saturday, the 5th Annual Inglewood Open Studios!
It’s time for the Weekend Update…..got a couple editions and yes I am back in LA, after celebrating my birthday with my NYC friends….So let’s get to it. Mama’s got a lot of partying going to do….My Pick of the Week is The 5th Annual Inglewood Open Studios Group Show Opening Reception which happens this Saturday Nov 12 and Sunday Nov 13 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The event, hosted by Inglewood artists and nonprofit Inglewood Cultural Arts (ICA), will allow visitors to personally tour the studios of established and emerging artists working in drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed-media, photography, installation, and performance.
Two historic public artworks in the City of Inglewood will be stops on the tour; The History of Transportation Mural by Helen Lundeberg and The Written Word Intaglio Tower by Tom Van Sant, both of which are located at the Civic Center in Inglewood on Manchester Blvd.SAVE the Date….this Wednesday November 16th…Come on out and celebrate my birthday with me…I will be playing at Dannys Venice (23 Windward) with singer/songwriter Geoffrey J. We will share the evening with some special guests….so mark your calendars. HAPPY HOUR is extended till 8:00 pm!

Now for the Pick of the Week. The 5th Annual Inglewood Open Studios Group Show Opening ReceptionFine Artists in Inglewood will open their studios to the public the weekend of November 12-13, 2011 from 1:00pm to 6:00pm during the fifth annual Inglewood Open Studios tour.
The event, hosted by Inglewood artists and nonprofit Inglewood Cultural Arts (ICA), will allow visitors to personally tour the studios of established and emerging artists working in drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed-media, photography, installation, and performance.

The work deals with dislocation and estrangement, at times employing decidedly cute characters in innocently grotesque or strange situations. Enjoy mellow surf music and strange hawaiian punch.In Huntington beach, on the final day of the Ocean Pacific Pro Surfing Championships, on the last day of august in 1986, thousands of youths went on a rampage. British photographer, Nick Waplington was there with only one role of film. The result is 25 concise frames of surfing history.
