Weekend Update...Pick of the Week is this Saturday at G2 Gallery!

Time for the WEEKEND UPDATE….sorry it's a bit late today. Hey, I am up in the mountains, outside of Yosemite. Had to come to town to find some internet.

My Pick of the Week is this Saturday, (wish I could be there) at one of my favorite galleries in Venice. G2 Gallery, (1503 Abbot Kinney),  is having a reception for Brian Skerry, a brilliant National Geographic photographer. Skerry, specializes in underwater photography and his images are breathtaking.

This event takes place from 6:30 pm till 9:00 pm. Yes it does cost a mere $5.00, but this happens to be a fundraiser for Heal the Bay, and it’s a great cause. Also there is always wine and refreshments and appetizers too. Don’t forget to RSVP at events@theg2gallery.com.

BTW…. Carnevale Venice Beach! is cancelled. Yes it was scheduled for June 4th, but I have been asked by the producers to post that it is indeed cancelled….BOOHOO. Check out their facebook page for all the details. It all boils down to the city’s ridiculously high permit fees!

Friday May 27th

There are a couple openings on Abbot Kinney in Venice that may interest you. The Gebert Gallery (1345 Abbot Kinney) always offers a classy opening with very tasty cocktails. Tonight’s reception from 7:00 pm till 9:00 pm features artist, Dirk De Bruycker. http://www.gebertgallery.com/.

Venice’s own G2 Gallery, 1503 Abbot Kinney welcomes The Murphy Family Band at 7:30 pm. The Murphy Family Band consists of 14 year old Sara on fiddle, 18 year old Kyle on mandolin and fiddle, dad Jim on guitar, Doug Davis on bass, Paula Lane on resonator guitar, and Bill Knopf on banjo. There is a $5.00 admission, but as always, it goes directly to environmental charities. http://www.theg2gallery.com;
