Pick of the Week is this Sat, 5 year anniversary of Taylor De Cordoba Gallery in Culver City

My Pick of the Week, is the Taylor De Cordoba Gallery's 5 year anniversary this Saturday, who will be celebrating with a champagne reception from 6:00 - 8:00pm. 

I have really enjoyed this gallery through the years….they always have fun shows. This special event will celebrate their first five years and more than thirty past exhibitions. The gallery will feature one new piece by each represented artist, whose visions have shaped the face of the gallery.

Wednesday, April 6th


Keith Wyatt of The Blasters is guest hosting this week’s Guitarology at the Melody Bar & Grill (9132 S. Sepulveda Blvd., 90045) from 8:00 pm till 11:00 pm. Guitarology has become a musical haven for incredible musicians. Word on the street, is that Phil Alvin may  show up. You never know what will happen.

This series has picked up "Best Live Music Event of The Year" from Los Angeles Magazine (get there early-reservations suggested) 310 670-1994


Also remember, Santa Monica Place Mall offers the “Movies on the Deck” series. Tonight’s movie is E.T. The Extra Terrestrial (what a great movie) and once again will be held on the rooftop at The Santa Monica Place Mall... This will be happening every Wednesday. Movies start at 7pm and yes it’s FREE, but come early if you want to grab a great seat. And bundle up, its outdoors, or bring your honey for warmth. There are heaters on the deck. You're welcome to bring blankets or your own chairs, but there will also be seating there. The G2 Gallery (1503 Abbot Kinney) presents The Artist Behind the Photo: J.J. L'HeureuxJ.J. L'Heureux has traveled extensively in Africa, South America, the Galapagos Islands, North America, Tierra del Fuego, across the Southern Ocean and into the Antarctic wilderness. This work is from a series of photographs of the Weddell Sea and the Continental ice of Antarctica from Atka Bay to Halley Station. They were shot over the course of eleven different expeditions to Antarctica spanning five years, where L'Heureux was a passenger on Russian icebreakers. Saturday, April 9th


Yes it is the day of my PICK OF THE WEEK! There are tons of other openings in Culver City….however earlier in the day see a couple of fun events right below, happening in the Santa Monica and Venice area. Then I’d say drive over to Culver City, but, It’s up to you….there is just too much to do.



During the day, take your doggie and head over to Barrington Dog Park from 11am-3pm. Complete with the Kogi truck catering, games for all animals, as well as Sweet Leaf Tea drinks, this is sure to be a family-friendly, exciting affair for a great cause. Barrington Dog Park is located at 333 Barrington Ave., in West LA.

Modnique.com, a flash sales site based here in LA. They are teaming up with Much Love Animal Rescue for an animal dedicated charity event.

This appears to the Saturday night to hang in Culver City. Starting on La Cienega, start with the pick of the week then you will find a host of wonderful galleries having receptions that start as early as 6:00 and run till 10:00 pm. Yet another unorganized mini little Art Walk in Culver City. It’s an inexpensive Saturday night out!

Then head straight to Corey Helford Gallery (8522 Washington Blvd., 90232) before the line goes down the block. They always puts on a good party. Tonight, Corey Helford presents Going Nowhere Fast with D*Face. The opening reception starts at 7:30 pm and runs to 10:00 pm. "Cheat Death" Bullet Key Rings will be given to the first 50 guests at the door, there will be a new 25" X 25" print available exclusively through CHG, the possible resurrection of dead celebrities - and more surprises.  http://www.coreyhelfordgallery.com/.



This is a pretty nifty idea. Two galleries get together and present an exhibition. Two exhibitions to be exact, at two locations. This show, Scapes, compares contemporary photographs with contemporary paintings, stemming from the landscape tradition. Last week, on this blog, I listed the Scapes opening at Bleicher/Golightly….this is the next installment.

Blue Five Art Space in collaboration with Bleicher/Golightly Gallery presents the second stage of the Scapes exhibit which launches with a reception of larger works by the artists at Blue Five Gallery 2935 S Sepulveda, from 6:00 pm till 10:00 pm.
